Somatic Experiencing is a gentle, body focused approach to healing that helps to process and release the effects of stress, trauma and overwhelm. Instead of focussing on thoughts and memories, Somatic Experiencing pays attention to physical sensations, like tension, breathing, and subtle body cues to support the nervous system in finding balance. In sessions, you’ll be guided to notice what’s happening in your body to help you build awareness, resiliency and a sense of safety. This approach is especially helpful if you feel stuck, numbed out, anxious, overwhelmed or disconnected from yourself. Somatic Experiencing doesn’t require you to relive difficult experiences but centers on helping your body complete and release stored stress and trauma, to allow for greater ease, stability and well being in your daily life.
